HBCU Connect and Diversity Search Group partner in linking top minority talent with top corporations

COLUMBUS, OH— March 10, 2006 – HBCU Connect, which currently offers a career center within its on-line community of 300,000 members has partnered with Diversity Search Group, a veteran and minority owned and operated executive recruiting firm, adding a targeted placement service for HBCU Connect
business advertisers.

The service allows HBCU Connect to do two things, according to William R. Moss III, HBCU Connect president and CEO. The career center offering will extend beyond exposure by having the infrastructure in place to get the best candidates for a position. It also allows HBCU Connect to reach out on a personal level
with its community members.

“The need has always been there. We just had to wait for the right opportunity,” Moss said. The companies coming together are in close proximity both geographically and in core values. Both find teamwork and genuinely caring about people as key in success, Moss said.
“It doesn’t hurt that the Diversity Search Group leadership also reigned from HBCUs. Diversity Search Group is an extension of our HBCU Connect family.” he added.

Bruce Sherald, Diversity Search Group president said the relationship with the HBCU community members, job-seekers and their families form the basis for trust from which Diversity Search Group recruiters can effectively coach and mentor candidates for the right opportunity.

“We don’t want to put the job-seeker in a position to fail, but in a position in which skills match company requirements, Sherald said.

“We are able to sift through the pool to find the right candidate for a company by making use of our networks in different cities and countries and by our unique interviewing process for matching the right skill sets,” Sherald said.

A lot of top companies are just recognizing the value offered from diverse candidates, Sherald said. We want to ensure that value is afforded to everyone. The HBCU candidates bring in the unique prospective of the African American community as well as the talent to succeed in a position.

This is just one faucet of the HBCU Connect initiative to meet the needs and expectations of clients.

Spectators can look for the continued growth of the HBCU Connect community, as has been the trend since its inception.
