2014 was a banner year for DSG, as the company, as well as corporate leadership received numerous awards and recognition from regional and national publications and organizations.  Not only was DSG recognized as number 1089 on Inc. magazine’s 500?5000 list of Fastest Growing Privately-Held Companies, but were also recognized by regional publications Columbus CEO and Columbus Business first as a Top 10 Temporary Employment Agency and  Top 15 Minority-Owned Firm, respectively.  In May 2014, the Women Presidents’ Organization name DSG as one of the 50 Fastest Growing Women-Owned/Led Companies worldwide. 

 

In 2015, DSG staff started out strong with several recognitions from area organizations.  In February, DSG President & CEO, Teresa Sherald, was recognized as a finalist for the Columbus Chamber Small Business Leader Awards; and in March, Sherald was declared runner-up for the SBA Columbus District Office Small Business Person of the Year Award.  In March, Sherald also attended the Enterprising Women Magazine’s Enterprising Women of the Year Awards, which recognized the world’s top women entrepreneurs. 

 

In addition to maintaining our high quality services to our current clients, DSG is also expanding our business offerings in 2015 to align with the core competencies of our corporate staff.  This expansion includes:

  • Exploration into contracting with the federal government for staff augmentation and program management services.
  • Increased engagement with our current staff by conducting training opportunities in customer service, supervisory skills, and entrepreneurism.
  • Continued expansion of project based work in information technology, healthcare, and business analytics.
  • Established call center services available to state and local government, non-profit organizations, and for-profit business entities. 

 

DSG is also expanding its web presence by providing more user friendly and responsive services through the DSG website.  In the upcoming months, current staff will have the ability to complete all paperwork online, as well as access information concerning upcoming DSG events and trainings through the Document Portal.   You will also see more changes to our social media platforms as well increased access to industry research, best practices, and tips.

Diversity Search Group Receives 2016 Diversity in Business Award

August 17, 2016 (Columbus, OH) –Diversity Search Group (DSG) was one of four organizations to receive an award as an Outstanding Diverse Organization for the 2016 Diversity in Business Awards.  Presented by Columbus Business First, this was the inaugural year for the awards, which recognized individuals, corporations, and organization that make diversity a focus in their businesses. 

Focused on quality and skills rather than color or gender, President & CEO of DSG, Teresa Sherald, believes that the diversity displayed within the organization has been a vital component to its success.  As a woman and minority-owned business, DSG is a racially diverse and inclusive corporation, employing both men and women from all spectra of economic status and background.

June 16, 2016 (Columbus, OH) – DSG President & CEO, Teresa Sherald, was recently selected as a 2016 Smart Women Award Honoree by Smart Business Columbus.  Teresa is an Honoree for the Progressive Entrepreneur Award, which recognizes entrepreneurs whom have founded or co-founded a for-profit business that has achieved substantial growth within the last two years due to an innovative product or service. 

Presented by Smart Business Columbus, the Smart Women Awards was created to recognize the achievements of businesswomen, male advocates, and women’s programs.  Honorees selected by the judging panel are recognized through digital and print content, as well as during the Smart Women Awards Breakfast.  Scheduled for September 1, 2016 at the Hilton Columbus at Easton, the Smart Women Breakfast will feature the award ceremony and a panel discussion which includes women leaders from Huntington Bank, OSU Wexner Medical Center, the Columbus Regional Airport Authority, and The Limited.

DSG President & CEO, Teresa Sherald, Appointed to Mount Carmel Foundation's Board of Trustees

January 20, 2016 (Columbus, OH) – DSG President & CEO, Teresa Sherald, was one of seven individuals appointed to the Mount Carmel Foundation’s Board of Trustees.  Founded in 1984, the mission of the Mount Carmel Foundation is to support the healthcare needs of the Central Ohio community by stewarding contributions that support the mission of the organization.  Individuals appointed to the Board of Trustees serve a three-year term and assist the Foundation with both program and fiduciary development.  Programs partially or wholly by the Foundation include the Welcome Home Program, the Mount Carmel College of Nursing, and the Mount Carmel Mobile Medical Coach.  For more information on the Mount Carmel Foundation, go to www.mountcarmelfoundation.org.

DSG President & CEO, Teresa Sherald, Graduates from SBA’s Emerging Leaders Program

November 2, 2015 (Columbus, OH) – DSG President & CEO, Teresa Sherald, was one of several participants whom graduated from the SBA Columbus District Office’s Emerging Leaders Program on October 13, 2015. Held at the Columbus State Workforce Development Center, the graduation ceremony was the culmination of approximately 100 hours of intensive entrepreneurial education. This education included working with mentors, attending workshops, and developing connections with peers, city leaders, and financial communities, all with the goal to help small businesses grow to the next level.

Growth to the next level is paramount to Sherald, who understands that growth is not only financial in nature, but also strategic in design. As DSG has seen substantial growth over the last 10 years, increasing the knowledge and tools to develop sustainable growth is an ever-present concern and planning opportunity. By working with the mentors provided through the Emerging Leaders Program, as well as engaging with her fellow participants, Sherald not only learned about potential collaboration opportunities, but was also able to further formulate the strategic future of DSG.  This future includes, but is not limited to, increased differentiation through exemplary service, expansion into emerging markets, and increased training and development of corporate staff.

The Emerging Leaders Program was launched in 2014 as an initiative to assist C-suite executives in building sustainable businesses in challenging urban communities. Currently, the program is facilitated by local SBA Chapters in 44 cities nationwide, and has over 1900 program graduates. To qualify for participation, executives must have annual revenue of at least $400,000; have been in business for at least 3 years; and, have at least one employee other than his/herself. Executives chosen for the program do not pay a fee to the SBA, but must commitment to the seven months of training time. Diversity Search Group Named to the Inc. 500 | 5000 List of Fastest Growing Companies

August 13, 2015 (Columbus, OH) -- Diversity Search Group (DSG), a trusted provider of recruiting and staffing, earning a number 1089 on the 33rd annual Inc. 500|5000, an exclusive ranking of the nation's fastest-growing private companies. The company achieved a three-year growth rate of 206%, with revenue of over 6.9 million and the addition of  nearly 650 jobs.   In addition to achieving its rank on the overall list, DSG was also honored on the list of top Human Resources Companies, Ohio Companies, and companies in the Columbus, OH Metro Area.

DSG CEO and Business Development Manager to Present at Momentum II: Mayor Coleman's 13th Small Business Conference and Expo

July 31, 2015 (Columbus, OH) –Two members of the Diversity Search Group (DSG) corporate staff were selected as session facilitators for Momentum II, Mayor Coleman’s 13th Small Business Conference and Expo.  President and CEO, Teresa Sherald, and Business Development Manager, Shelby Craft, will facilitate a session entitled, “How to Develop a Teaming Blueprint – Finding Growth in JV Opportunities,” on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 10:00 a.m.  The session will focus on the costs and benefits of joint ventures for entrepreneurs and small business owners, as well as the pros and cons of joint ventures, where to find joint venture partners, and how to navigate potential risks.

Diversity Search Group CEO, Teresa Sherald, Completes 2015 OMSDC MBE Academy

May 4, 2015 (Columbus, OH) – Teresa Sherald, President & CEO of Diversity Search Group (DSG), completed the last module of the 2015 OMSDC MBE Academy, which began in January.  In its second year, the MBE Academy is a training and development course for minority-owned businesses.   Personalized for newly certified and eligible non-certified MBEs, the MBE Academy aimed to not only cultivate, but strengthen MBE business relationships and day-to-day operations.  According to Damien Hardy, OMSDC Director of Government Affairs, the MBE Academy, “has been effective at allowing OMSDC to offer a customized approach to growing minority businesses”.

Teresa and her colleagues attended a total of eight module sections, each designed to encourage growth and development in their respective industries.  The modules were facilitator by prominent business leaders from around Ohio, including Kimberly Blackwell of PMM Marketing Agency and Elizabeth Drake of LBrands, and included topics such as Legal Issues, Fiscal Operations, and Lean Six Sigma Training. 

The MBE Academy also gave Teresa an opportunity to network with other MBEs leaders from around the state of Ohio, and gain valuable insights on both challenges and opportunities in respect to core business practices.  Teresa was also able to share some of her business experience with the leaders, including her experience with state government contracting and finding business development opportunities.

March 29, 2015 (Columbus, OH) – Teresa Sherald, President & CEO of Diversity Search Group (DSG), was recognized as one of the 2015 Enterprising Women of the Year Award winners.    Honorees were celebrated at the 13th Annual Enterprising Women of the Year Awards and Conference, which occurred from Mary 29-March 31 at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. 

The annual Enterprising Women of the Year Awards is widely considered one of the most prestigious recognition programs for women business owners.  To win, nominees must not only demonstrate that they have a fast-growing business, but also that they mentor or actively support other women and girls involved in entrepreneurship.  Many of the honorees also serve as leaders of the key organization that support the growth of women’s entrepreneurs. 

Award winners were recognized in seven categories this year: annual sales revenues of more than $100 million; annual sales revenues of more than $25 million and up to $100 million; annual sales revenues of more than $10 million and up to $25 million; annual sales revenues of more than $5 million and up to $10 million; annual sales revenues of more than $2 million and up to $5 million; annual sales revenues of more than $1 million and up to $2 million; and annual sales revenues of up to $1 million.  Teresa was recognized in the ‘annual sales revenues of more than $5 million and up to $10 million’ category, which included 15 additional entrepreneurs representing the financial services, design, and law industries.

February 12, 2015 (Columbus, OH) – Teresa Sherald, President & CEO of Diversity Search Group (DSG), was named Finalist for the Columbus Chamber Small Business Leader Awards.  The Award, given annually for over 30 years, honors the best of the region’s small business.  Additional finalists included Catherine Lang-Cline of Portfolio Creative; Mohan Viddam and Sanjay Dudaney of Halcyon Solutions; and, Tom Harris of HMB. 

Finalists were honored at Columbus Chamber’s 2015 Annual Meeting on February 12, 2015 at the Convention Center.  The keynote speaker of the event, Jamie Dimon of JPMorgan Chase, provided the crowd of over 1,000 guests with insights on business and the economy.  Recognized as one of the most influential business leaders, Dimon also networked with finalists and Columbus business leaders at an exclusive invite-only event held after the annual meeting.

Diversity Search Group CEO, Teresa Sherald, Named SBA’s Columbus District Office Small Business Person of the Year Runner Up

March 26, 2015 (Columbus, OH) – Teresa Sherald, President & CEO of Diversity Search Group (DSG), was named Runner Up for the SBA’s Columbus District Office 2015 Small Business Awards.  Sherald was one of 50 nominees to receive an award based on an in-depth process, which included demonstrated increases in sales, business methods, and employment growth.  The award, presented yearly, provides the SBA with the opportunity to “highlight the impact of the innovative men and women who work every day to drive our nation’s economic growth, and create jobs and opportunities for Ohioans”, stated Martin Golden, district director of the Columbus district office.  

DSG Business Development Manager, Shelby Craft, accept the award on behalf of Teresa Sherald at the Small Business Awards ceremony on May 5, 2015, at the Pinnacle Golf Club in Grove City.  Festivities included keynote speaker, Charley Shin of Charley’s and additional special guests.  Also in attendance, were fellow award winners in the categories of Small Business Exporter of the Year, SBA Young Entrepreneur of the Year, Financial Services Champion of the Year, and Minority Small Business Champion of the Year.

(Columbus, Ohio) On June 10, 2014, The State of Ohio, Department of Administrative Services awarded Diversity Search Group with a 2-year contract to provide temporary personnel services for the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP).  The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is a federally funded program, administered by the Ohio Development Services Agency’s Office of Community Assistance.  The goal of the program is to assist eligible low-income individuals with home heating costs.

(Columbus, Ohio)  On May 7, 2014, the JEB Western Kentucky Veterans Center awarded Diversity Search Group a multi-year contract to provide emergency temporary nursing services for its health care facility located in Hanson, Kentucky.  The Center, operated by the Department of Veteran Affairs, is a 156 bed capacity long-term care facility for qualifying veterans. 

The contract was awarded as a multi-vendor, open competition, contract to provide temporary nursing services, which includes Registered Nurses (RN), Licensed Professional Nurses (LPNs), and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), on an emergency basis.  To fulfill the needs of the JEB Western Kentucky Veterans Center, Diversity Search Group will use its network of 1,600 recruiters to locate top quality nurses throughout Kentucky and the tri-state area.  Diversity Search Group will also advertise its needs on local, regional, and national websites to qualify and quantify new talent and to add to its existing talent base. Women Presidents' Organization Unveils the 50 Fastest-Growing Women-Owned/Led Companies Worldwide

Dramatic 203% Surge in Revenue Revealed in 2014 Data

New Orleans, LA (April 24, 2014) – The Women Presidents’ Organization (WPO) today released its 7th Annual list of the 50 Fastest-Growing Women-Owned/led companies around the globe. The 50 Fastest generated $4.9 billion in combined 2013 revenues and collectively employed 22,000 people. Compared with last year’s list, the total combined revenue of the 2014 winning companies grew by a dramatic 53%.

Thirty-One Gifts, a direct seller of exclusive, stylish and functional purses, totes, fashion accessories and organizing solutions, is the fastest-growing woman-led/owned company. Cindy Monroe, founder and chief executive officer, who started the company in her basement in 2003, saw her company’s revenues grow exponentially in four years, from $38 million in 2009 to $760 million in 2013.

“The companies that made it onto our list this year reflect the continued resourcefulness of women-led businesses,” said Marsha Firestone, Ph.D., president and founder of WPO. “We saw production soaring, with an average revenue growth of 203% from 2009 to 2013. Not only is the financial growth of these companies impressive, it shows that women entrepreneurs are making inroads in non-traditional businesses, such as information technology and transportation. The growth of these women-led companies is particularly impressive as the world economic recovery struggles to gain traction. Privately held U.S. companies on average ended 2013 with annual sales growth of 5.4%, the slowest rate of sales growth since 2009,” Dr. Firestone added.

Strategic Communications, a Louisville-based provider of technology services run by Kathy Mills ranked second this year, nearly doubling the company’s revenues, from $45.4 million in 2011 to $97.3 million in 2013. WDS, Inc., an international warehousing, distribution and inventory management company, rounds out the top three. Jennifer Maier, chief executive officer and president, grew the company’s revenue from $13.2 million to $155.8 million in the past four years.

For the first time since its inception, the 2014 50 Fastest was opened to applicants on a global level, resulting in two international businesses in the top ten. Participating companies were ranked according to a sales growth formula that combines percentage and absolute growth. To be qualified for the ranking, businesses are required to be privately held, woman-owned/led companies with annual revenue of at least $500,000 by year end 2008.
